We've been working hard behind the scenes and are so excited to announce ATAR Library, an expansion of vce.rocks to involve all Australian curriculums. We're starting off strong with 126 unique Cambridge textbooks across all curriculums (except VCE) and 109 Neap exams for HSC and QCE, all with solutions.
We've made sure every textbook included in this collection has bookmarks. Over half of these textbooks did not contain bookmarks originally and were added by us. We've also compressed and linearised all the textbooks to make them load faster, improving accesibility for those with slow internet.
Until now, we've only had to worry about VCE for uploading new additions to the library. It was already very time consuming to manually sort and redact new files for one curriculum and now we're taking on the task of maintaining all of them.
When practice exams start to circulate in September, we would love for volunteers to aid us in managing the libary. We're looking for people to manage each curriculum; this will mainly involve sorting new resources. We are also very interested in receiving help from experienced front-end developers to assist with site development.
If you would like to help the intiative, you can join us when volunteer opportunities open later this year. Don't worry about reaching out now, we'll let you know when we're ready. We are incredibly grateful for any help provided.
The future of the site is uncertain, but hopefully having more people involved in the project will help to sustain it.
You may have noticed that some resources have been removed from the library, notably the ATAR Notes "Course Notes" series. We try to make as much available as possible, but sometimes some content shouldn't be uploaded. The goal of the site is to provide resources that benefit students without excess harm to authors, and unfortunately there are some cases where it is no longer appropriate to host certain resources. This is decided on a case-by-case basis through direct discussion with the authors.
Finally, I want to mention that we are experimenting with compressing files to free up storage. We are starting by compressing practice exams so if you notice that any exams have formatting issues or poor image quality please let us know.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post :)
